Lessons from Ananias and Sapphira – audio

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This short 2 part series of talks looks at Acts 4:32 – 5:11, covering the subject of financial giving in the early Church as well as what happened to Ananias and Sapphira. There is much misunderstanding about this passage, and how it should be applied in the Church today. It addresses questions such as to whom, and how much, should believers give. It also looks at the issue of to what extent there was common ownership within the early Church, and seeks to counteract the idea that some people have that the early Church was operating a form of “communist” model, which it didn’t. The talks then look in detail at the account of Ananias and Sapphira and consider what exactly it was that they did wrong and why they were punished as they were. Finally, there is a discussion of the difference between the role of the apostles in the brand new Church described in Acts, and the role of church leaders today.
